Maslahah Mursalah based Policy, Equality and Empowerment (AICIS 2024)
This session explores one of the critical issues in the ongoing global economic uncertainty, namely the empowerment of communities and economic equality. Equality here is not just about income distribution but also about social equality and justice. This needs to be complemented by socially just empowerment. The main issue often highlighted is equality and justice, especially for marginalized groups, in this economic empowerment. Islam, in this context, has actually paid attention to the role of marginalized communities in the economic sector through the concept of maslahah mursalah. However, how economic empowerment based on maslahah mursalah is shaped to create an ecosystem of economic empowerment that not only ensures justice in wealth distribution but also empowers every individual and group in society.
