Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of training, work motivation, and work engagement on employee performance through job satisfaction as a mediating variable in Generation Z employees in Batam City manufacturing companies. This research is based on Job Demands-Resources (JD-R) Theory and Self-Determination Theory (SDT) which explain the importance of job resources and the fulfillment of psychological needs in improving employee performance. The approach used is explanatory quantitative using the Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) method using SmartPLS 4.0 software. Data was obtained from 250 respondents who were selected through purposive sampling techniques. The results of the study show that training, work motivation, and work engagement have a positive and significant effect on job satisfaction and employee performance. In addition, job satisfaction has been shown to have a positive and significant effect on employee performance and acts as a partial mediator in the relationship between training, work motivation, and work engagement on employee performance. These findings confirm that improving the performance of Generation Z employees requires an integrated strategy that includes competency development, motivation strengthening, and increased work engagement to create sustainable job satisfaction.
