Analisis Perilaku Masyarakat dalam Membuang Sampah di TPS Lamtoro Gung dalam Perspektif Teori S-O-R

Abstract

Waste management at the Temporary Waste Temporary Shelter (TPS) involves not only the availability of facilities but also community compliance with waste disposal regulations. This study aims to analyze community waste disposal behavior at the Lamtoro Gung TPS in Palangka Raya City, based on observations made following the installation of informational signage and environmental improvements as part of a Student Community Service (KKN) program. The study employs a qualitative approach utilizing field observations conducted over the 45-day KKN period. Observations focused on the condition of the TPS, the use of waste bins, disposal locations, and the alignment of community behavior with regulations regarding disposal times and designated areas. Data were analyzed descriptively through the lens of the Stimulus–Organism–Response (SOR) theory. The results indicate a shift in community behavior following the installation of banners and the reorganization of the TPS area. Instances of waste found outside the bins decreased, and residents increasingly utilized the provided receptacles. However, compliance was not absolute; some residents still disposed of waste outside designated hours, and waste was found in an area that had been cordoned off. These findings suggest that the dissemination of information, combined with changes in the physical environment, is linked to observable behavioral changes, although community responses to the regulations remain varied. As this study was limited to observable behavior, it cannot directly explain the underlying motivations or reasons for residents' compliance with or violation of the rules.
