Publication Ethics
The statement of this scientific code of ethics is a statement of the code of ethics for all parties involved in the publication process of this scientific journal, namely managers, editors, reviewers, and authors. This statement of the code of ethics for scientific publication is based on the Regulation of the Head of LIPI Number 5 of 2014 concerning the Code of Ethics for Scientific Publication, which essentially upholds three ethical values in publication, namely:
- Neutrality, which is free from conflicts of interest in publication management;
- Justice, which grants authorship rights to those entitled as authors; and
- Honesty, which is free from duplication, fabrication, falsification, and plagiarism (DF2P) in publication.
Duties and Responsibilities of Journal Managers
- Determining the journal's name, scope of knowledge, periodicity, and accreditation if necessary.
- Determining the membership of the editorial board.
- Defining the relationships between the publisher, editor, peer reviewers, and other parties in a contract.
- Respecting matters of confidentiality, both for contributing researchers, authors, editors, and peer reviewers.
- Implementing norms and provisions regarding intellectual property rights, especially copyright.
- Reviewing journal policies and communicating them to authors, editorial boards, peer reviewers, and readers.
- Creating a code of conduct guide for editors and peer reviewers.
- Publishing the journal regularly.
- Ensuring the availability of funding sources for the sustainability of journal publication.
- Building networks of cooperation and marketing.
- Preparing licenses and other legal aspects.
Duties and Responsibilities of the Editor:
- Aligning the needs of readers and authors,
- Striving for continuous improvement in publication quality,
- Implementing processes to ensure the quality of published works,
- Upholding the freedom of expression objectively,
- Preserving the academic integrity of authors' track records,
- Issuing corrections, clarifications, retractions, and apologies when necessary,
- Being responsible for the style and format of written works, while the content and all statements within the works are the responsibility of the authors,
- Actively seeking input from authors, readers, peer reviewers, and editorial board members to improve publication quality,
- Encouraging journal assessments when findings arise,
- Supporting initiatives to reduce research and publication errors by requesting authors to attach approved Ethical Clearance forms from the Ethics Clearance Commission,
- Supporting initiatives to educate researchers on publication ethics,
- Reviewing the effects of publication policies on authors and peer reviewers' attitudes and improving them to enhance accountability and minimize errors,
- Maintaining an open mind towards new opinions or views that may contradict personal opinions,
- Not holding onto one's own opinion, authors, or third parties that may result in biased decisions,
- Encouraging authors to make improvements to their written works until they are suitable for publication.
Duties and Responsibilities of Reviewers:
- Receiving assignments from the editor to review written works and provide the review results to the editor, as a basis for determining the suitability of a written work for publication.
- Reviewers must not review written works in which they are directly or indirectly involved.
- Maintaining the author's privacy by not disseminating correction results, suggestions, and recommendations by providing criticism, suggestions, input, and recommendations.
- Encouraging authors to improve their written works.
- Reviewing revised written works according to predetermined standards.
- Reviewing written works in a timely manner in accordance with the publication environment style based on scientific principles (data collection methods, author legality, conclusions, etc.).
Duties and Responsibilities of Authors:
- Ensuring that those listed as authors meet the criteria as writers.
- Jointly responsible for the work and content of the article, including methods, analysis, calculations, and details.
- Disclosing the source of resources (including funding), both directly and indirectly.
- Explaining the limitations of the research.
- Responding to peer reviewers' comments professionally and promptly.
- Informing the editor if they intend to withdraw their manuscript.
- Making a statement that the submitted manuscript is original, has not been previously published anywhere in any language, and is not under consideration for publication elsewhere.
