Authorship Criteria
Kelola: Journal of Islamic Education Management recognizes authorship as a responsibility that reflects a substantial intellectual contribution to a scholarly work. All individuals listed as authors must meet the authorship criteria established by the journal and must take responsibility for the integrity and accuracy of the published work.
1. Criteria for Authorship
To qualify for authorship, each author must meet the following criteria:
1. Substantial contribution** to the conception or design of the study, the acquisition of data, or the analysis and interpretation of research findings.
2. Drafting or critical revision** of the manuscript for important intellectual content.
3. Final approval** of the version to be submitted and published.
4. Accountability** for the integrity of the work, including a commitment to address questions concerning the accuracy, originality, and ethical conduct of the research.
All listed authors are expected to satisfy these criteria. Individuals who do not meet the authorship criteria should be acknowledged appropriately in the Acknowledgements section, with their permission.
2. Corresponding Author
The corresponding author is responsible for communicating with the editorial office throughout the submission, peer-review, revision, and publication processes. The corresponding author must ensure that all co-authors have approved the manuscript, agreed to the author list and author order, and consented to its submission to the journal.
The corresponding author is also responsible for ensuring that all required declarations, ethical approvals, conflict-of-interest statements, funding information, and other relevant documentation are provided accurately.
3. Author Contributions
Authors are encouraged to describe their individual contributions to the manuscript. Where applicable, the journal recommends using the Contributor Roles Taxonomy (CRediT) to identify roles such as conceptualization, methodology, investigation, data curation, formal analysis, writing—original draft, writing—review and editing, supervision, and project administration.
Author contribution statements should accurately reflect the work performed by each contributor.
4. Changes in Authorship
Any addition, removal, or rearrangement of authors after manuscript submission must be requested in writing and justified to the editor. All affected authors must provide their written agreement to the proposed change. The editor reserves the right to evaluate the request in accordance with the journal's publication ethics policy.
Changes to authorship after publication will be considered only in exceptional circumstances and must follow the journal's correction or post-publication amendment procedures.
5. Unacceptable Authorship Practices
The following practices are prohibited:
- Gift or honorary authorship: listing individuals who have not made a qualifying intellectual contribution.
- Ghost authorship: excluding individuals who have made qualifying contributions to the research or manuscript.
- Guest authorship: including individuals solely to increase the manuscript's credibility or likelihood of acceptance.
- Unauthorized authorship changes: adding, removing, or changing the order of authors without the required agreement.
- Misrepresentation of contributions: claiming contributions that were not actually made.
The journal may request clarification or supporting documentation if authorship concerns arise.
6. Use of Generative Artificial Intelligence
Generative artificial intelligence tools, including large language models, cannot be listed as authors or co-authors because they cannot assume responsibility for the work, approve the final manuscript, or meet the journal's accountability requirements.
Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, integrity, and ethical compliance of their manuscripts. Any substantive use of generative AI must be disclosed in accordance with the journal's Generative AI Policy.
7. Ethical Compliance
By submitting a manuscript to Kelola: Journal of Islamic Education Management, the corresponding author confirms that all listed authors meet the journal's authorship criteria, have approved the submitted version, and agree to take responsibility for their respective contributions.
Any suspected violation of authorship ethics will be investigated by the editorial team in accordance with the journal's publication ethics policy and applicable scholarly publishing standards.
