Conflict of Interest Policy

MADDIKA: Journal of Islamic Family Law is committed to ensuring transparency, objectivity, and integrity throughout the scholarly publishing process. All authors, editors, and peer reviewers are required to disclose any potential conflicts of interest that could influence, or be perceived to influence, the preparation, evaluation, editorial decisions, or publication of a manuscript.

1. Authors' Responsibilities

Authors must disclose any financial, professional, institutional, personal, or other relationships that may influence the research, interpretation of findings, or presentation of the manuscript. Such conflicts may include employment, consultancy, funding, financial interests, personal relationships, institutional affiliations, or other competing interests.

A conflict of interest statement must be included in the submitted manuscript. If no conflicts of interest exist, authors should explicitly state: "The authors declare no conflicts of interest."

Authors must also disclose the sources of funding and any relevant role played by funders in the research design, data collection, analysis, interpretation, manuscript preparation, or decision to publish.

2. Editors' Responsibilities

Editors must handle submitted manuscripts fairly and impartially. Editors who have a personal, professional, financial, or institutional conflict of interest concerning a manuscript must disclose the conflict and recuse themselves from the editorial decision-making process when necessary. The manuscript should be reassigned to an independent editor to ensure an objective evaluation.

3. Reviewers' Responsibilities

Peer reviewers must disclose any circumstances that could compromise their impartiality, including personal relationships, academic competition, institutional affiliations, or financial interests involving the authors or the research. Reviewers who identify a significant conflict of interest must notify the editorial team and, where appropriate, decline the review assignment.

4. Disclosure and Editorial Management

All disclosed conflicts of interest will be assessed by the editorial team to determine whether appropriate measures are necessary. Such measures may include additional disclosure, reassignment of editorial responsibilities, appointment of independent reviewers, or other actions required to safeguard the integrity of the publication process.

Failure to disclose a relevant conflict of interest may result in editorial action, including a request for clarification, manuscript rejection, correction of a published article, or retraction, depending on the nature and severity of the issue.

5. Commitment to Publication Integrity

MADDIKA is committed to maintaining an ethical, transparent, and accountable publishing environment. The disclosure and appropriate management of conflicts of interest are essential to ensuring the credibility of scholarly research, the fairness of peer review, and the trust of authors, reviewers, readers, and the academic community.

This policy applies to all manuscripts submitted to MADDIKA: Journal of Islamic Family Law and to all individuals involved in the journal's editorial and publication processes.
