Plagiarism Policy

MADDIKA: Journal of Islamic Family Law is committed to maintaining academic integrity, originality, and ethical standards in scholarly publishing. All manuscripts submitted to the journal must represent the authors' original work, must not have been previously published, and must not be under consideration for publication in another journal or scholarly publication.

Similarity Screening and Plagiarism Threshold

All submitted manuscripts are screened for similarity using Turnitin plagiarism detection software. The maximum permitted similarity index is 20%. Manuscripts exceeding this threshold may be returned to the authors for revision or rejected, subject to editorial assessment.

The similarity index is not the sole criterion for determining plagiarism. The editorial team evaluates similarity reports contextually, taking into account proper citations, direct quotations, references, commonly used expressions, and the substantive content of the manuscript. A similarity score below 20% does not automatically guarantee that a manuscript is free from plagiarism.

Authors' Responsibilities

Authors must properly acknowledge all sources of information, ideas, arguments, data, quotations, and research findings derived from other works. Plagiarism includes copying text without proper attribution, paraphrasing without appropriate citation, presenting others' ideas or data as one's own, and unjustified duplicate publication.

Editorial Actions

If plagiarism or inappropriate similarity is identified, the editorial team may request clarification or revision, return the manuscript for correction, or reject the manuscript depending on the nature and severity of the violation. If plagiarism is discovered after publication, the journal may issue a correction, retract the article, or take other appropriate actions in accordance with publication ethics standards.

Authors bear full responsibility for the originality of their manuscripts and the proper acknowledgment of all sources. Editors and peer reviewers contribute to maintaining publication integrity through the objective evaluation of submitted manuscripts.

This policy is intended to ensure that all articles published in MADDIKA uphold the principles of academic honesty, originality, scholarly accountability, and ethical publication practices.
