Several interesting issues that are priorities in this edition continue the concept of “Islam, Ecotheology, and Technological Transformations for an Equitable and Sustainable Future”. The position of Islamic Economic Law plays an important role in this theme.

    Halal Certification and Food Regulation

The implementation of halal standards within public nutrition programs, food supply chains, and national policy frameworks represents a critical area of inquiry. This theme is closely aligned with research on halal certification and its role in ensuring compliance, consumer trust, and equitable access to halal food.

    Islamic Finance and Fintech

Contemporary discussions highlight issues of consumer protection, the application of smart contracts in Islamic legal transactions, and the integration of digital technologies into Islamic financial systems. These developments raise important questions regarding regulatory adaptation, ethical compliance, and the sustainability of Islamic finance in the digital era.

    Islamic Business Ethics and Sustainability

The discourse encompasses productive zakat, waqf, and other redistributive economic instruments designed to mitigate inequality. Such mechanisms are examined not only as religious obligations but also as strategic tools for promoting social justice, economic resilience, and sustainable development.

    Maqāṣid al-Sharī‘ah in Economic Policy

The principles of maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah serve as a normative foundation for designing economic regulations that are just, inclusive, and oriented toward societal welfare. This perspective emphasizes the alignment of legal frameworks with ethical imperatives, ensuring that economic governance contributes to both equity and collective prosperity.

Maslahah Mursalah based Policy, Equality and Empowerment (AICIS 2024) This session explores one of the critical issues in the ongoing global economic uncertainty, namely the empowerment of communities and economic equality. Equality here is not just about income distribution but also about social equality and justice. This needs to be complemented by socially just empowerment. The main issue often highlighted is equality and justice, especially for marginalized groups, in this economic empowerment. Islam, in this context, has actually paid attention to the role of marginalized communities in the economic sector through the concept of maslahah mursalah. However, how economic empowerment based on maslahah mursalah is shaped to create an ecosystem of economic empowerment that not only ensures justice in wealth distribution but also empowers every individual and group in society.
